Anticipating Completion of Gut Rehab at
5925-27 Etzel Avenue
We eagerly anticipate welcoming four new families to Etzel Avenue on June 1st. As you may recall, Cornerstone purchased an abandoned four-family building last year with the hope of seeing the building restored for families in need of safe and affordable housing.

For the past few months we have been busily orchestrating contractors, suppliers, and volunteers in the daunting task of rehabilitation. All the major systems (plumbing, electric, and HVAC) have been replaced. Finishing touches are in progress. This building features four fully rehabbed, two-bedroom apartments with central air and refinished hardwood floors.

Many volunteer hours went into this project, especially from Chesterfield Presbyterian Church, which sent a team every month for the duration of the project. Thank you, Chesterfield Pres, for donating over 400 hours of labor over the last year. We are, indeed, grateful for your partnership in the gospel! In addition, InterVarsity sent three separate teams of students from Midwestern colleges on spring break, three different weeks. Other churches donating time included New City Fellowship. What a blessing you all were to us!
Three Saturdays, Four Churches

For three Saturdays in January, members of Grace & Peace Fellowship, Old Orchard Church and South City Church helped rehab one of Cornerstone’s apartments to prepare it for new occupants. The help was much needed and greatly appreciated, as the employees of Cornerstone were deeply entrenched in the rehabbing of our newly purchased building.

Our brave volunteers pulled up carpet, washed downs walls to prepare for painting, painted the walls, and demolished a closet and old cabinetry to make room for new cabinets.
In addition. Rooftop Community Church volunteers painted in 6009 Etzel on a Saturday in March.
